Big things come to those that are not afraid to fail!
I truly believe it’s in our best interest to aim for big things, and if you look at history there is a great deal of proof reflecting this mind-set. Without question there are many people in the world with amazing talents who realize only a small percentage of their potential because they are afraid of failure. We all know people who live with this inner torment. We are also familiar with those epic success stories, those modern-day legends that actually “failed to succeed” folks like Michael Jordan and Bill Gates! No, that’s not a typo. Let me word it another way that makes more sense, they failed, in order to succeed! That’s right, they used every failed attempt as a lesson on what not to do in future attempts, hence…they failed, to succeed! Makes perfect sense.
The ONLY time failure is permanent, is when you keep repeating the same mistakes, over and over! I see have seen this happen since I first got into Bodybuilding and fitness in gyms across the Globe. Following dumb programs and diets year in year out without any visible results! One of the dumbest things you can do is get caught up in the THINK BIG mentality. You can’t blame novice Bodybuilders for embracing this mentality because it’s part of the gym culture. Eat BIG, lift BIG, think BIG!
The inherent flaw with this “Think BIG” mind-set is the lack of balance and finesse. Building a great aesthetic physique is an art, it’s not a shotgun approach. To truly succeed and have longevity you have to think SMART, before you think BIG! More importantly, you have to learn to continually assess your progress. If you can’t see any visible change in your body within the first month of following a workout and diet plan, it’s just not working. Ask yourself, WHY am I not changing. If you don’t, you will end up one of those types that mindlessly follow dumb plans year in, year out with little to no gain.
No matter how hard you work on a dumb plan, it never gets any smarter!
We can look a bit further back in time to Albert Einstein or even further back to Abraham Lincoln. What made each of these people so successful? Was it motivation? NO! Not at all, if you motivate an idiot all you get is a motivated idiot! That’s just plan logic. But for many, and this is often the pitch of “self-help gurus”, all you have to do is believe in yourself and be motivated. In reality, nothing could be further from the truth. Einstein was successful because he made mistakes, was not scared of failure, but he used each failure as a lesson. Each failure provided a history lesson on what NOT to do next time. Basically, failure was his biggest lesson, and the ability to not let ego get in the way of progress.
Wisdom should always come before motivation
We know this in our gut, but why do many of us seek motivation before wisdom? I think the answer is, there is not much work in getting motivated for a short time, even an idiot can get motivated! However, to truly succeed you have to be armed with a comprehensive, smart plan. A plan that is based on real world experience, and one that is based on logic and the fundamentals.
You can NEVER lose money investing in personal development, but you have to be sure that your resources come from reliable and experienced sources.
Motivation is not purely the answer, merely thinking BIG is not the answer. In fact, knowledge is NOT the answer, if you don’t have UNDERSTANDING! Now, more than ever we have millions of know-alls that are full of knowledge, but they just don’t understand the How’s and why’s! In all due respect, what’s the point of knowing, if you don’t understand.
Logic always prevails
I have always been big on logic. If I try something, maybe a new workout plan, or diet plan, supplement I assess my progress. If I feel it’s not working all that well, I CHANGE it. Assess, adjust and move forward. Why would anyone in their right mind keep following a plan that is producing no results? You would be surprised, because it’s happening right now with millions of people in gyms around the world! There is ONLY one way to get out of this circle of failure, find a smart plan based on real world experiences. In my book The Aesthetic Bible I devote and entire chapter on how to create the type of mind-set of a winner. The mind-set that is the foundation of successful people since time began.
Before you think big, you have to think smart.
